Brief Profile
Dr. Sinosh Skariyachan is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, St. Pius X College, Rajapuram (Aided by govt. of Kerala, Affiliated to Kannur University, Kerala), Kasaragod, Kerala, India. He has pursued his post graduations in Microbiology (M. Sc) and Bioinformatics (M. Sc) (Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu) and obtained his Ph. D in Biotechnology (Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka). He has sixteen years of experience in teaching and research. His key research domains are Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Molecular Modeling, and Computational Drug Designing, Chemoinformatics, Genomics and Proteomics, Medical Microbiology (Antimicrobial resistance), Environmental and Food Microbiology. His major research focuses are selection and screening of novel natural therapeutic against probable drug targets of SARS-CoV-2 and several multidrug-resistant organisms isolated from various sources by structure-based virtual screening approaches. He has modeled and validated novel drug targets for several pathogenic bacteria and viruses by computational biology approaches. He has screened novel chromophoric and fluorophoric therapeutic metabolites from symbiotic bacteria associated with marine sponges towards drug-resistant bacteria. He has identified several novel thermophilic bacterial consortia screened from extreme environments that can degrade low- and high-density polyethylene and polypropylene. He has authored 79 International papers, 89 conference proceedings, one textbook, and 14 invited book chapters. He serves as the associate editor for Computers in Biology and Medicine (Elsevier), Academic editor for Plos One, Guest editor for Frontiers in Microbiology (Frontiers) and editorial board member for several reputed international journals, and reviewer for more than 130 international journals published by Nature groups, Royal Society, American Chemical Society, Elsevier, FEMS, Springer, Frontiers, Tailor & Francis, Wiley-Blackwell, Oxford Journals, BMC Journals, Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., Bentham Sciences, Dove Medical Press, etc. He is a member of more than 20 National and International scientific and professional societies. He has received several awards and travel grants for his research. He has received grants from various funding agencies and was honored as a plenary speaker in various National and International conferences and symposiums.
